Piano Keys

Piano Keys

Her fingers played with the piano keys

As every hollowed wooden pipe inside

Poured sweet sounds to the outside

Lies, all lies, all the sweet sounds

Were cries of agony of the hollowed hearts

The sweetest melodies were the

Loudest cries of sheer agony

The room filled and the chandelier

Was lighted; pretty pink flames

Burned bright on many faces

Shadows danced as did young and old

Grow numb; lost in thoughtlessness

To the sweet sounds of the grand piano

A work of art, joy, joy for many a heart

It made them forget everything

That had carved lines of experience

On their wrinkled hands and faces

They forgot as the melody

Stole into their hearts and lulled

Them to sleep for a while

As agony danced in their hearts

They sang, they sang in unison

In pain

With the piano keys all night

To the piano keys all night

The sweetest sounds in this world

Are all joy; joy, mere lies

Ensnare you or entrap you

Beware they are here to

Enchant you and make you forget

That it hurts sometimes

Those that sound the sweetest

Are either going to be

Or have been through

Everything

Un-sweet-ly
